Prettier Parking Tickets

Image by TJ Lubrano of A Look in a Creative Mind

What would you think if your parking ticket contained a gift?
Does looking at pretty pictures cheer you up something swift?
I'm not sure it would fully reverse the irritation for me.
Yet, it's a pleasant surprise I would sure like to see.
Too bad it means I'd have to drive and park in New York.
That's less likely to happen than me starting to raise pork.

  1. I don't know if a gift with a parking ticket will soften the blow of recieving one.I think it add insult to injury if you ask me,but this just my opinion.

  2. Oh my, that would make me angrier, lol! It's hard to soften the blow of a ticket. Not getting you to New York, huh? I love what you do, Rachel. Nearing the end of NaPoWriMo: Congrats, girl! ^5

  3. I think they need to stick around and do a song and dance number in TuTu's to take some of the edge off.

  5. I really like how you end the poem. At first I was like 'raise pork'?! Luckily there was a link attached hehe :D.

    I would be happy to see some art, not so happy that I would have to pay my bill hehe.

  6. I've got an idea for tickets
    that would really make my day.
    They could attach some coupons
    for a free sub at Subway.

  8. @F.a.Ellis - Yeah... I'm still not toally sure how I'd react, but it is fun to think about.

    @Adriene - LOL. Thanks for the extra comment to tell me you're sweepy jean. I'm horrible with blog names / regular names... remembering anything in general. :) Anyhow, I would love to GO to NY... but I won't drive while I'm there. Cabs or walking. :)

    @BornStoryteller - HAHAHAHAHA. Tutus always take the edge off. I like your plan. :)

    @Tricia - True. While it might make some smile when they find the art... it doesn't stop the irritation of having to pay the bill.

    @TJ - hehe. I'm glad you liked the poem and... yep. That's what the links are for! When the thought popped into my mind as a possible rhyme, I had to google it to make sure it was the proper term... so I included the link. :)

    @Bryan - I like that idea too! Food gifts always make me happy. :)

  9. Rachel,

    Great thoughts, but I don't think a gift with the parking ticket, would appease those who would receive the parking ticket.
    In the town where I live, people spent so much time, moaning about the cost of parking for one hour!

    A nice fresh thought!

  10. Too funny. Now I'll be thinking of how to best to dress up parking tickets so they are more palatable.

  11. @Kim - Purely my pleasure to amuse you. :)

    @Eileen - Hehe. Yeah, I can imagine some scenes these gifts could cause. :)

    @Jingle - Thanks! I'm glad you enjoyed it. :)

    @Judy - I'm glad I could inspire you. There must be a way to make parking tickets more palatable... oh, I know... not getting them. :)

  12. I think it would irritate me even more! Like it was a passive-aggressive, sarcastic smile at me. Do you think any counties would have this? I'm sure somewhere in the Midwest has to!

  13. @Car Title Loans - According to the stuff I read (and linked to) the program is already up and running in New York City. It's the last place I would expect the citizens to receive this type of program with a smile, but... we'll see. :)

  15. I agree that I'm not sure about the gift thing - to me it'd be like being on a game show where the winner gets a million dollars - and you come in second to walk away with the board game version....

  16. What a grand idea! As long as the ticket was JUST art I'd be ok with that!

  17. @marousia - Thanks!

    @Chim - Glad you enjoyed it!

    @abthomas - Haha. I like your analogy. :)

    @mysticmarleei - I LIKE the way you think! :)

  18. I like where you are going with this! Lets put beautiful pictures on our parking tickets ... maybe we will be more willing to pay them.
