Friday Photo Fun - Something Cream

Something Cream
by Rachel Hoyt

From the Emerald Isle it came,
To bolster men to plow the plain.
It's less nutritious when cooked quick.
Some like it thin and others thick.

So, what is this cream thing?
I await the fun guesses you'll bring!

Friday Photo Fun is when I share a randomly captured moment,
or perhaps a photo experiment with more purposeful intent,
then pair it with a rhyming riddle to exercise your mind
and teach you more weird facts to which you once were blind.

    1. No, but that is a GREAT first guess! You are semi-close. The answer is a specific meal/dish.

  2. Mention the Irish and it's gotta be potato!

    1. No, this is not something I previously knew was brought to the U.S. by the Irish. :P You'll be surprised it's Irish.

  4. Happy Friday Rachel.
The only thing I can think of which can be thick or thin & food to bolster the belly is porridge.

  5. So not floor, how about door or wall?
Hmmm that isn't a dish more of a hall.
    Some irish fish?
    Or irish bread type thing?
    A wooden dish?
    Or some bread ring?

  6. Darn, I was going to say Potato, but someone beat me to it. On the other hand, they did NOT beat me to saying sperm, because that one hadn't crossed my mind. :D

I feel that the vital clue is this business about it being less nutritious if you cook it quick. That's a bit perplexing. I've heard of things LOSING nutrients when they were cooked, but I can't imagine what would work the other way. Hmmm, but then I don't think you're saying that it GAINS nutrients by cooking; just that a quick cook at higher temperatures might destroy more of the nutrients than a slow simmer, right?

    Have to think about it.

    1. You're on the right track. There are versions designed to cook quicker in this more modern day which are less nutritious than the original version. :)

    2. I was going to say Cream of wheat, but then I saw that someone already guessed oatmeal. I was so close!
