Thursday Thoughts - Converting Sleep to Song

Melodic Dreams

Once fleeting dreams
Now will not die
Sleep's a broken melody
That can now fly.

Hold fast to dreams -
Record a song.
Write down your memory
So you can sing along.

Reach for your dreams
Sing loud and clear
Harnessing energy
Within to squash fear.

  1. I've gotten out of the habit of keeping a notebook by the side of my bed to record dreams. It's always funny how vivid they can be at night and then quickly disappear during the day. I need to get back into that. At least I keep a notebook in my general backpack, so if I recall during the day, I jot them (or other notes) down.

    1. I don't have many dreams (that I remember), but I try to write them down when I do. I don't keep a notebook by my bed though, just in my purse and backpack(s) and more. :)

  2. What a fine little nocturne you've written here - of dreams, songs, and happiness. Enjoyed it a lot!

  3. WOW!!! I just wrote about a dream that I had, pertaining to a song. Interesting! I do journal my dreams. Sometimes I will have, what I call "THEME SONGS" in my dream. I will always google the song the next day, to find the hidden message, within the song. ;) I LOVE THIS!!!

  4. Rachel, did you know that the more you record your dreams, the more of them you’ll remember? I heard a psychotherapist speak once, and he said that honoring your dreams is an invitation for more memory. So keep the hand moving! My friend Katie has been dreaming novels lately – with complete storylines. You know Mary Shelley dreamed Frankenstein, right?

    1. I will keep trying to remember my dreams. You can count on it. These days its easy to write down... "was being chased", "was running late"... but perhaps I should honor my dreams and buy a special journal and write that down more regularly? xo
