Someone who's flagitious
might flash the religious
befriend the bibulous,
and compile fruits quite frivolous -
be wicked, criminal, ridiculous -
that's being flagitious.

Come on over to indulge your inner nerd.
And, please let me know of any weird words you've heard.

  1. When a blogger posts a blog so funny and humorous, yet no one seems to notice it. That seems pretty flagitious to me, even if it's not a recognized crime.

    1. Thank you, THANK YOU Jeffrey. :) I needed that nice compliment to balance out an insult left for me a few days ago. :)

  2. Immediately, this made me think about false prophets - those who proclaim to know the truth and deliver their lies to others in a neat, tidy, sadly believable package. Have yet to look up the word, just wondering if I'm close to the mark?
Thanks, Rachel, for another great challenge!

    1. I think false prophets are rather flagitious. I'm glad my poem led you to the right idea! :)

  3. Edward Lear was one, I hear, who wrote such stuff in rhyme
I would read his verses to my kids all the time.
Now your wee word - flaglicious, has a feel -- delicious
And makes me want to rhyme it in a manner repetitious.

    Smiles for a nice post

  5. What a cool way to define a new word - and one I never knew. Good sort of limerick and a fine mnemonic. Thank you, I needed that!

    1. Why, thank you! :) I wasn't trying to write a limerick. I usually just let the definitions flow... rhymes fall where they will... :)

Rhyming or not, I would like a lot to hear the thoughts my words brought...
